On the morning of April 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM (Hanoi time), at the Meliá Hotel Conference Hall, a significant scientific and technological breakthrough was announced, the transplantation of pig corneas into humans. This biomedical advancement was introduced at the International Scientific Symposium on Bioengineered Cornea, co-organized by Vietnam Gene and Cell Technology Joint Stock Company (VGCT), a member of CT Group, in collaboration with the Vietnam Ophthalmology Society and Acro Biomedical (Taiwan).
The symposium was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Vietnam Ophthalmology Society , leading eye hospitals such as the National Eye Hospital and Ho Chi Minh City Eye Hospital, along with hundreds of professors, scientists, and corneal specialists from public and private hospitals, as well as universities, both domestically and internationally.
