WHO IS BEHIND THE ORDER TO PRODUCE 5,000 CARGO UAV IN VIETNAM?

Vietnam’s first-ever production order for 5,000 cargo unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), placed in partnership with a South Korean company has not only sent shockwaves through the global tech industry but also sparked widespread curiosity about the identity of the South Korean company behind this historic deal.

On August 12, 2025, in Seoul, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between CT Group (Vietnam) and Airbility – a rising UAV technology company in South Korea – regarding the production of 5,000 cargo UAVs.

Under the MOU, CT Group will undertake OEM production of the 5,000 cargo UAVs in Vietnam. This landmark agreement has created a stir in the global technology sector and quickly became a hot topic, spreading widely across international media and social platforms. In Vietnam, the event has ignited a wave of excitement, attracting exceptional public attention and sparking vibrant discussions across forums and social networks over the past few days, with many rushing to learn more about Airbility.

The memorandum of understanding has been signed between CT Group (Vietnam) and Airbility (Korea).

According to the reporter’s findings, Airbility is an emerging South Korean enterprise founded in 2023, which started in in Pangyo Techno Valley – the country’s innovation hub often referred to as the “Silicon Valley of Korea.” – and has since expanded its operations to include an R&D center in Seoul, an aircraft prototyping workshop and an outdoor flight testing site in the extended metropolitan area. Despite its young age, Airbility has quickly become a rising start among South Korean deep-tech companies thanks to its team of engineers, scientists, and aerospace experts with extensive international experience. Many of them have previously worked for prestigious institutions such as the Hyundai Motor Compnay, KAIST, MIT, Carnegie Mellon University, and the Korean Agency for Defense Development.

Details regarding Airbility’s potential clientele include the Korea Forest Service, local fire and police departments for Drone as First Responder (DFR) and emergency response operations, as well as overseas public safety, disaster management, and logistics organizations in markets such as the United States, Canada, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Airbility has already won the Red Dot Design Award 2025

The company has already won the Red Dot Design Award 2025, successfully conducted a test flight of its vectored-thrust eVTOL prototype, and made frequent appearances at major international technology events. The founding team comprises experts who have contributed to South Korea’s national projects, including the KT-1 and T-50 trainer aircraft, the KF-21 fighter jets, and stealth UAVs at the Agency for Defense Development (ADD). With an accelerated R&D cycle-from concept to flight prototype in just nine months – Airbility has attracted significant international attention for its rapid growth and steep increase in corporate valuation, recognized by venture capital investors. Within just a year and a half since its founding, the company has received substantial investments from investors such as Samho Green Investment, Bass Ventures, Stonebridge Ventures, Mashup Ventures, and 500 Global. The company has also been selected to participate in leading deep-tech and startup support programs in South Korea, such as Startup NEST, Little Penguin, Ultra-Gap Startup 1000+, and TIPS. Armed with strong technological capabilities, an outstanding talent pool, and the backing of major investors, Airbility aims to become a global leader in core technologies for the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market in the near future.

According to international experts, the combination of Airbility’s aerospace technology with CT Group’s strong manufacturing capabilities, robust R&D force, and high-tech ecosystem will create a new model of global collaboration in the AAM industry. The order to produce 5,000 unmanned cargo aircraft from CT Group serves as a foundation for the two sides to implement broader programs, while also providing Airbility with an opportunity to quickly establish its position in a highly competitive global market
