Amid rising demand for skilled professionals in semiconductor engineering and IC design, a Vietnamese corporation has introduced a postgraduate tuition sponsorship program for graduate students and doctoral candidates in these fields at VNU-HCM, coupled with stringent requirements on academic progress and scientific research output.
Tuition sponsored by a corporate partner
The University of Science, a member institution of VNU-HCM, has announced its 2025 postgraduate scholarship program sponsored by CT Group, aimed at developing a high-quality talent pipeline for semiconductor technology and integrated circuit design.
The scholarships are available to master’s students and doctoral candidates enrolled in postgraduate programs across the VNU-HCM system and apply throughout the standard duration of study.
Scholarship funding is disbursed directly to the training institutions and used exclusively for tuition payment.
Under the program, doctoral candidates receive 100% tuition coverage for the standard three-year training period, while master’s students are supported with 50% of tuition fees over two years.
Candidates admitted through direct admission in the 2025 postgraduate intake are eligible for full tuition sponsorship.
To qualify, recipients must not concurrently receive other postgraduate scholarships offered by VNU-HCM or its member institutions.
Recipients are required to commit to fulfilling all academic obligations and to graduating within the standard training period in accordance with regulations—three years for doctoral candidates and two years for master’s students.
Priority for direct admission, clear research output requirements
Master’s students considered for the scholarship must be those admitted in 2025 and enrolled in semiconductor technology, integrated circuit design, or closely related disciplines. Applicants admitted through VNU-HCM’s direct admission schemes will be given priority.
Applicants must commit to delivering clearly defined scientific research outcomes. For master’s students, the minimum requirement includes at least one article published or accepted for publication in a journal indexed in Web of Science or Scopus; or two papers published in peer-reviewed international conference proceedings; or two articles published in peer-reviewed international journals; or participation in accredited scientific research projects at institutional, ministerial, or national level; or ownership of intellectual property products or technological solutions registered and recognized domestically or internationally.
Doctoral candidates admitted in 2024 and 2025 must be conducting research aligned with semiconductor technology and integrated circuit design.
Doctoral candidates are required to commit to producing at least three scientific publications, either journal articles or conference papers, published in outlets indexed in Web of Science or Scopus or equivalent.
At least one of these publications must be ranked Q2 or higher; alternatively, candidates may hold registered inventions or intellectual property solutions recognized at national or international level.
Applicants must also ensure the accuracy and transparency of information related to their academic progress, scientific research activities, and post-graduation employment status, as required by the university.
The deadline for scholarship applications is December 27, 2025.
