CT Group is expanding its high-tech research and development network through a strategic partnership with the prestigious University of Southampton (UK), leveraging an extensive research ecosystem ranging from AI, semiconductors, and quantum technology to UAVs and biotechnology.
The University of Southampton is a top-tier UK institution with a distinguished track record in multidisciplinary scientific research and application. It possesses deep experimental and applied capabilities across numerous fields, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), microelectronics, aerospace, robotics, and quantum technology. The university is a member of the Russell Group – an association of leading public research universities in the UK, often likened to the “Ivy League”, and boasts a robust academic foundation, particularly in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
With over 70 years of history and development, the University of Southampton has consistently played a pioneering role in strategic technology research in the UK. The university places a strong emphasis on technology application and transfer, creating practical products and solutions that contribute significantly to industrial and societal development. The University of Southampton maintains robust cooperative relationships with leading technology corporations, international research organizations, and industrial partners. The university’s international collaboration efforts have been accelerated more than ever during the tenure of Professor Andrew Atherton – Vice-President International and Engagement. He is responsible for leading international partnership strategies, as well as building and maintaining global connections in both research and education.

It is no coincidence that a highly ranked UK university with such a distinguished track record has placed special focus on CT Group in Vietnam. Committed to the “Triple Helix” model – a synergy of education, research, and industry that the University of Southampton actively seeks opportunities for research development, knowledge exchange, and corporate collaboration. “Our experience at Southampton has shown that when universities partner with high-tech-oriented enterprises, we unlock new discoveries and knowledge that improve the world, creating better opportunities and living conditions for people and society” shared Professor Andrew Atherton, Vice-President International and Engagement of the University of Southampton. CT Group’s ecosystem of 9 core technology sectors, which strongly aligns and intersects with academic research in emerging technologies has paved the way for this promising strategic partnership with the University of Southampton.
According to Professor Andrew Atherton, Vietnam is currently one of the most exciting and dynamic countries in the world. He noted that this dynamism is driven by pioneering enterprises and organizations like CT Group, which are leading national economic development, spearheading sustainable economic growth, and contributing to improving the quality of life for the Vietnamese people.
The University of Southampton boasts strengths spanning microelectronics, AI, cybersecurity, UAVs, clean energy, and quantum technology to cell & gene technology and robotics, creating a uniquely comprehensive research ecosystem. This aligns perfectly with CT Group’s capability to deploy a core technology ecosystem, encompassing Semiconductors, UAVs, the Low Altitude Economy (LAE), Quantum Technology, Gene & Cell technology, and New Energy. The combination forms a powerful complementary structure: one side possesses world-class academic depth and experimental capabilities, while the other holds the ability to implement technology in large-scale practical applications. This synergy creates a foundation for the joint development of strategic core technologies that align with Vietnam’s innovation needs and global technology trends.
CT Group and the University of Southampton have officially established a strategic partnership for the 2025–2028 period through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on December 9, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City. This event marks a significant milestone in the effort to connect a Vietnamese technology enterprise with one of the UK’s leading universities in science and engineering.
The cooperation will focus on technology transfer and the development of highly applicable scientific and technical platforms between the two nations. Moving beyond basic training frameworks, the two parties will expand into deep collaboration by building international-standard human resource programs. The partnership will focus on integrated research programs spanning UAVs, AI, semiconductors, and quantum technology to biotechnology, aiming to create positive social impact through sustainable projects. These initiatives will address environmental and climate challenges while developing technological solutions that benefit society. In particular, the joint development and application of the Low Altitude Economy (LAE) is set to become a new growth driver for European economies as well as a catalyst for sustainable development in the Mekong Delta.
