A proud and uplifting piece of news from the United States, as a Vietnamese professor has been elected as a Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors (NAI).
The Vietnamese scientific community proudly celebrates the news that Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen has officially been elected as a Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors.
A Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors is considered a symbol of intellectual advancement, a place that brings together exceptional minds. Being elected as a Fellow requires long-term dedication, with outstanding contributions in research, practical applications and pioneering innovation in science and technology. It is a prestigious title highly aspired to by scientists. Professor Dr. Henry Nguyen’s election as a Fellow of the U.S. National Academy of Inventors affirms the academic standing and wisdom of Vietnam within the international scientific community.
Professor Dr. Henry Nguyen has an outstanding career in genomics technology and biotechnology, earning international recognition for his research in biotechnology, plant genetics and related fields. He has held numerous prominent positions, including Director of the U.S. Center for Biotechnology. He is a leading professor in the field of biotechnology, with over 18 years as a genetics professor at Texas Tech University and the Texas A&M University System and more than 20 years as a Distinguished Professor at the University of Missouri. He was elected to the India National Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2020.
Professor Dr. Henry Nguyen has served on the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals and has published over 400 research articles and 45 book chapters. His Google Scholar profile records more than 48,000 citations, with an h-index of 115. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the international scientific Plant GENOME journal.

Amid a period of rapid growth in biotechnology, with a strong shift toward fields such as genetics, cellular biology and precision agriculture, Vietnam is presented with an opportunity to narrow the gap with the rest of the world. According to the professor, this is exactly the time when solid foundations in basic science, innovation and international collaboration can bring about a real transformation for the nation’s scientific development.
It was precisely this vision that brought him back to Vietnam and led him to choose to collaborate with CT Group, serving as a member of the Scientific Council and a professional advisor in the field of genetics and cellular technology at Vietnam Gene and Cell Technology (VGCT – A member of CT Group), which is currently developing a biotechnology research ecosystem according to international standards.

According to the professor, Vietnam possesses a rich source of indigenous genes, a strong demand for high-tech agriculture and an advantage in its young workforce. What Vietnam needs is a well-organized, long-term research ecosystem with the ability to connect internationally. He believes that the scientific and technological ecosystem being pursued by CT Group and VGCT will make a practical contribution to the country’s science.
The professor will collaborate with CT Group in research areas including biology, precision agriculture and applications of genetic and cellular technologies.
On November 29, Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen will participate in the discussion session “Global trends and vision in biotechnology” at the national scientific conference “Biotechnology development strategy for 2026–2030 with a vision to 2045,” organized jointly by CT Group and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
The participation of a world-class expert like Prof. Dr. Henry Nguyen at the national conference is expected to provide new insights, helping Vietnam anticipate trends, prepare necessary resources and establish a new standing in the rapidly expanding era of biotechnology.
