Realcoin is making use of a new type of smart contract which creates asset-backed tokens in the form of immutable NFTs. All of the tokens represent the same unit size, just like bricks.
There is a simple 3-step process for creating these asset-backed tokens using blockchain technology.
– Digitisation: Issue a master title document in digital format as a certificate. This master title document represents ownership of the whole asset.
– Tokenisation: Tokenise the master title certificate into an NFT. This ‘Master NFT’ represents the whole asset, having a one-to-one relationship with the master title.
– Factionalisation: Fractionalise the Master NFT by transferring it into a custodial wallet, locking it as collateral and then employing a smart contract to issue a large quantity of smaller NFTs. These represent fractions of the Master NFT and serve as tokenised units in the specific real property.
