On November 16, 2024, CT Semiconductor (a member of CT Group) officially announced its development plan for the CT Semiconductor Thu Duc Factory at the first International Festival of Science, Technology, and Innovation in Thu Duc City Thu Duc Innovation Fest 2024.
CT Semiconductor officially announced the development plan of CT Semiconductor Thu Duc factory
The Thu Duc CT Semiconductor Factory is part of a series of activities by CT Semiconductor, including the construction of three OSAT factories (two in the South and one in the North), two R&D centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, and two customer care centers in Silicon Valley and Phoenix, Arizona. This is also a practical step toward realizing the plan to develop 10 OSAT factories in Vietnam, as outlined in Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1018/QD-TTg on the Strategy for Developing Vietnam’s Semiconductor Industry.
According to the plan, the Thu Duc CT Semiconductor Factory will be constructed on a 10,000-square-meter site in the Hi-Tech Park of Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City. The factory will have a total investment of nearly $100 million and an operational capacity of approximately 2,000,000 semiconductor chips per month. It is expected to commence operations in 2025.
Mr. Azmi Bin Wan Hussin Wan announced the development plan of CT Semiconductor Thu Duc factory
“With the Thu Duc CT Semiconductor Factory, all the equipment has been carefully researched, evaluated, and selected from the most advanced technologies. The ATP Factory project at CT Semiconductor integrates several cutting-edge technologies into assembly, packaging, and final testing processes, ensuring the highest reliability and performance of semiconductor chips. These technologies are critical for improving the performance, productivity, and reliability of semiconductor chips in various fields, including computing, telecommunications, automotive, and consumer electronics.
Regarding high-quality human resources to meet the operational needs of the factory, CT Semiconductor has partnered with many international organizations, recruiting numerous leading scientists and experts in semiconductors, along with 50 highly qualified engineers and professionals for the factory’s operations. Domestically, we have two training centers and collaborate with over 10 universities,” shared Mr. Azmi Bin Wan Hussin Wan, Project Director of CT Semiconductor, at the event.
The distinct feature of CT Semiconductor is technological autonomy, systematic preparation from specialized ATP training for OSAT companies, R&D to production under the Industry 4.0 model. Currently, CT Semiconductor is enrolling students in the “Seed Training – Train the Trainer” program, focusing on semiconductor chip assembly, testing, and packaging. A key feature of this program is that interns gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art chip testing equipment and become familiar with various chip types, contributing to Vietnam’s deeper integration into the global semiconductor supply chain.
