In the evening of 24 November 2010, District 8’s local authorities and Hochiminh city Television organised a concert named “Nghĩa tình quận 8 – Lần II” (Love for District 8’), which was broadcasted live on HTV9 channel at 8.30 pm. This concert was organised to call for organizations and individuals to donate to help poor people in district 8 to overcome difficulties to have a better life.
In an atmosphere of love and sharing, C.T Group decided to donate 100 million dongs to District 8’s Fund for Poor People.
In 2010, District 8 is the area with the highest proportion of poor people (6,832 households with 36,379 people). There are approximately 26,000 slump houses on rivers and canals awaiting urban development projects.
Helping poor people in District 8 is one of the many charitable activities carried out by C.T Group. On 15 October 2010, C.T Group also sponsored the 2nd National Buddhist Ceremony Conference organized by the Vietnam Central Buddhist Association in Nha Trang.
C.T Group has recently finished a cross-country caravan called “Benevolent Journey Sai Gon – Ha Noi 2010”. Up to 3000 poor families were directly and effectively aided at the beginning of the new school year. Another program is the “Hearts of Sai Gon” program in which C.T Group call for companies and individuals to follow the example of Bay Tan, the man who has voluntarily picked up litters from the river for 30 years. The ‘Love conserving Faith’ scholarship fund has also assisted many poor students to overcome difficulties and given them the necessary conditions to study and develop their careers.
